Permanent Dental Implants
Dental implants use a titanium post placed into the gums to act as a replacement for the tooth roots. Once healed, a dental crown can be connected to the post, resulting in a new, secure tooth. While the crowns may need to be replaced over time with wear and tear, the titanium post remains in place, providing a stable and comfortable replacement.
The Dental Implant Process
Before you receive dental implants, your dentist will check to ensure you have sufficient gum coverage and bone density in the jaw to support implants. Once a treatment plan has been created, the implant posts are inserted surgically into the jaw. After a healing period in which the post attaches to the jawbone and surrounding tissue (a process called osseointegration), you’ll receive your dental crown (or crowns, if you’re having multiple teeth replaced), completing the dental implant process.
